Well, it's week 2 of the 6 String Saga and I'm feeling a little more confident in being able to do this!
After texting my lil' cousin - who is the next John Mayer on guitar - I realized that trying to just start out reading tabs and "memorizing" songs was kind of like cheating.
So, I'm learning chords. Yay.
My fingers are developing calluses and my left hand cramps up randomly - but apparently this is part of learning.
At this very moment, I can play a G-major and a C-major chord - but I can't move between the two. It goes like this...strum, strum, strum, strum ----pause (finding frets)---- strum, strum, strum, strum.
Oh, and yes...my neighbors hate me. Granted, I'm practicing right after I get home from work for the most part - so it's not late. However...I've learned that practicing finger placement on the frets works well during commercial breaks! :)
I can pretty much play "Smoke on the Water" without staring down at the fret board...baby steps, right?
Next up...D-major. At which then I can try and switch back and forth from G, C and D...hopefully.
